Hi, I’m Lupe. I’m a queer, Mexican ArtCenter animation student looking for a new roommate to move into my apartment. I’ve lived here with my old roommate for 3 years, and they are now leaving to move in with their partner.
This apartment is wonderful, and I’m grateful that I found it! For $1050 a month, you would have one of the unit’s two bedrooms to yourself, one of two assigned parking spaces, a shared bathroom, and a very spacious living room, kitchen, and dining room. The $1050 includes water. Gas, electricity, and internet are not included. We do not have a dishwasher, and the washer-dryer is coin operated and shared with the other units. There is AC in the dining room only, but the unit, which is on the first floor, stays remarkably cool, and there are also ceiling fans in both bedrooms. Our landlord/property manager is very accessible and gets issues fixed quickly. My current roommate will be taking about half of the furniture when they go, so we’ll need to buy some more.
The location is great, too. We’re very well connected to the 110, but high enough on a hill that you can’t hear the traffic. The neighborhood is safe, peaceful, and full of nice plants. We’re walking distance from ArtCenter’s South Campus, and a 15 minute drive from Hillside Campus, PCC, Occidental College, and DTLA. There are several great restaurants in walking distance, too, including Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, and American.
How you decide to keep your room is none of my business (unless there’s mold growing in there, lol) but I hope that you will help me maintain a level of cleanliness and orderliness in the common spaces. By this, I mean committing to a chore schedule, not leaving dishes in the sink, and cleaning up after yourself (for example, after cooking.)
The apartment is cat-friendly. I have one shy, senior cat, and will gladly welcome yours if you have or decide to get any.
I like to throw parties at the apartment every 1-3 months, generally to celebrate things like birthdays or the end of a semester. You’re more than welcome to come mingle and invite your friends as well! Most of my friends are students at ArtCenter or Occidental, so it’s very much a queer, artsy crowd.
I have a car, so I’m happy to get groceries and I’m good for the occasional ride.
